Serious Head-On Collision Closes Route 322 in East Caln Township

EAST CALN TWP — On Wednesday morning, a head-on collision between a Silver Honda Fit and a White Chevy Equinox on the 600 block of Brandywine Avenue in East Caln Township resulted in significant injuries for both drivers. Downingtown Police, along with Fire and EMS personnel, responded promptly, providing immediate medical care before transporting the injured to Paoli Hospital Trauma Center. The road was closed for several hours for an investigation led by the Downingtown Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit, with support from the Westtown-East Goshen Police Department. Authorities are now calling for any witnesses to assist in their ongoing investigation.

West Bradford Twp Offers $2,500 Reward for Tips on Broad Run Park Damage

WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township has issued a $2,500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the recent vandalism at Broad Run Park. The incident, which took place between May 23 and May 24, 2024, has prompted local authorities to seek the community's help in identifying the culprits. Final Draft of Downingtown's 2024 Plan to Be Unveiled for Public Review

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Comprehensive Plan Task Force has finalized the draft of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan, aimed at shaping the borough's development in the coming years. The plan will be presented to the public on June 24th at 7 p.m. during the Planning Commission meeting at Borough Hall. Community members are encouraged to review the plan and provide their feedback. Comments can be submitted using an online form, emailed to Susan Gregg, the Code Enforcement Administrator, or sent via mail to the Borough of Downingtown at the Municipal Government Center. County Program Helps Students Overcome Barriers to Graduation

Project RECONNECT, initiated by the Chester County Economic Development Council, has reached a significant milestone with 97 students celebrating their graduations. The program provides essential financial aid and support services to individuals who had to pause their post-secondary education due to unforeseen personal circumstances. With a focus on high-demand sectors such as healthcare, Project RECONNECT assists with tuition, childcare, transportation, and food.

The Chester County Commissioners praised the program for transforming the lives of the graduates and strengthening the local workforce.

Patti VanCleave, Vice President of Workforce Development at CCEDC, highlighted the program's success in removing educational barriers and its potential for continued impact with additional funding. Project RECONNECT is funded by a $2 million grant from the PA Department of Labor & Industry, The program ensures students are career-ready through the guidance of a Success Navigator and connections with employers and workforce initiatives.

Uwchlan Township Manager Resigns for New Role

UWCHLAN TWP — Scott Greenly, who has served as Uwchlan Township Manager since January 2018, is resigning to take on a new role with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission. His final day will be June 21st. Greenly, who has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, initially worked alongside former Township Manager Doug Hanley before assuming the role himself. His previous experience includes positions as Director of Planning and Development for East Whiteland Township and Associate Planner for Upper Merion Township.

During his tenure, Greenly significantly contributed to the township's growth and development through various projects and initiatives. The Board of Supervisors has initiated the search for his successor and has appointed Tara Giordano as Interim Township Manager to ensure continuity. The Board invites qualified candidates to apply for the position.

Lanchester Landfill and Nature Trail to Close for Paving Project

The Lanchester Landfill and Reclamation Center (LLARC) has announced a temporary closure of its facility on Saturday, June 15th, due to a scheduled roadway and paving project. Additionally, the Lanchester Nature Trail & Overlook will be closed on Sunday, June 16th, to accommodate the project. This temporary closure is part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure during the month of June. Residents seeking more information are advised to contact LLARC at 610-273-3771.
