Chester County Woman Charged with Assaulting Trooper in Berks County

A Chester County woman, Kim G. Lapidus, has been charged with assaulting a state trooper during a traffic stop on Interstate 176. Lapidus was detained after failing a sobriety test and resisting arrest, which led to a physical altercation with the trooper. She is held on a $5,000 bail and faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and DUI.

Kennett Area Community Service Welcomes Ana Amarante-Craig as New President

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Kennett Area Community Service (KACS) has appointed Ana Amarante-Craig as its new president. Amarante-Craig, the first Hispanic/Latino leader of the organization, brings a strong background in law and community service. She aims to further KACS' mission of addressing food and housing insecurity in Southern Chester County and oversee the construction of a new social services hub.

United Way Celebrates 2024 Leadership Chester County Graduates

EXTON, PA — The United Way of Chester County proudly celebrates the 2024 graduating class of Leadership Chester County (LCC), a leadership development initiative that has been fostering community leaders for over two decades. This program, facilitated in partnership with West Chester University and the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, equips participants with critical skills and insights to make a positive impact in their communities.

Since its inception, LCC has graduated 560 individuals who have gone on to serve on the boards and staff of 435 nonprofit organizations, supported by 146 sponsors. The program imparts valuable leadership and entrepreneurial skills, broadens business networks, and deepens understanding of local socio-economic issues.

As the United Way honors the achievements of the 2024 class, it also announces that applications for the 2025 class of Leadership Chester County are now open. Interested individuals can find more information and apply at www.LeadershipChesterCounty.org.

Community Movie Night at Wagonsellor Park: "Migration" on June 13th

WALLACE TWP — Wagonsellor Park in Wallace Township will screen the movie "Migration" on Thursday, June 13th at sunset. The community event offers a chance for families and friends to enjoy an evening together in a picturesque outdoor setting.

Uwchlan Road Resurfacing Project Begins June 17th

UWCHLAN, PA — Starting Monday, June 17th, the Roads Department will launch a road resurfacing project, targeting multiple streets for improved conditions and safer travel. The work will occur from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, prohibiting street parking during these hours on Kimberly Lane, Travis Court, Tesia Court, Cobbleskill Lane, Whitford Hills Road, Harshaw Drive, Valley View Lane, Silver Fox Lane, Woodland Drive, Calvary Lane, and Steeplewood Drive. Residents are urged to find alternative parking to avoid towing.

In addition to resurfacing, maintenance will be carried out on Peck Road, Dowlin Forge Road, Eagleview Blvd, West Devon Drive, Rice Blvd, and Penny Packer Road.

Annual Ringer Runner Benefit Supports Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness


CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — Founded in 2016 in memory of Joseph Ringhoffer, the Ringer Runner Benefit is dedicated to raising funds for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Joseph Ringhoffer, a beloved resident of Chester Springs and Penn State University alumnus, was an enthusiastic runner who tragically died by suicide. The benefit supports local and regional mental health initiatives and established the Joseph J. Ringhoffer Memorial Fund to aid Penn State's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). CAPS provides essential services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and psychological evaluations, benefiting both undergraduate and graduate students. Through education, community collaboration, and fundraising, the Ringer Runner Benefit aims to significantly impact suicide prevention and mental health support within the community.
