National Police Week: Honoring the Sacrifices of Law Enforcement Officers

CHESTER COUNTY — National Police Week, designated by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 and occurring from May 12th to May 18th, serves as a crucial time for remembering and honoring law enforcement officers who have lost their lives on duty. The week is observed nationally with May 15th marked as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Communities are encouraged to participate in commemorations and express their support for the dedication and sacrifices of these individuals, reinforcing the significant role public support plays during this period. Multiple police departments, as well as the Chester County Government are recognizing National Police week to acknowledge and honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Join TMACC’s Bike to Work Day on Chester Valley Trail

EXTON — The 14th annual Bike to Work Challenge, organized by Chester County’s TMACC, will take place on May 16th. Participants will gather at Exton Park Trailhead and Chester Valley Trail parking lot, cycling 5-6 miles to Cedar Hollow Park. The event features a breakfast, an awards ceremony, and a contest with two categories based on company size. Riders can win additional prizes by using the AgileMile platform for tracking their commutes. Helmets are required, and TMACC seeks sponsorships for event perks. A decision on weather-related changes will be made the prior evening.

Caln Gears Up for the 16th Annual Community Day

CALN TWP — The 16th Annual Caln Community Day, sponsored by Hatt's True Value Hardware, will be held on September 7, 2024, at Caln Municipal Park from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event offers free entry, activities, entertainment, and a fireworks show. Organizers are seeking sponsors, vendors, and exhibitors.

DOWNINGTOWN — The St. Joseph Community Festival, Chester County’s premier summer event, is set for June 18-22, 2024. The festival will feature rides, food, fireworks, and a potential early start on the final day, June 22. Organizers are busy with preparations, promising a week of excitement and community spirit.

Uwchlan Township Begins Seasonal Roadside Mowing; Drivers Cautioned


UWCHLAN — This week marks the beginning of Uwchlan Township’s routine mowing of roadside banks, an essential maintenance effort to keep the township neat and safe. The Parks Department requests that drivers remain vigilant and slow down when passing the mowing crews working along the roadways. The initiative not only enhances the township's appearance but also ensures the safety of both the workers and the community.
