Disclosed during a state House appropriations hearing in Harrisburg by the Pennsylvania State Police deputy commissioner of operations, the costs primarily consisted of overtime expenses, excluding contributions from external agencies.

The appropriations committee has requested a comprehensive breakdown of all associated search costs. Cavalcante, who had evaded authorities after a daring escape from Chester County jail, was subject to an extensive search involving around 500 law enforcement members. The escape, marked by scaling a wall, navigating razor wire, and leaping from a roof, was captured on video.
