Exton Park Envisions Ambitious Upgrades in Multi-Phase Transformation

West Whiteland Township is set to transform the 700-acre Exton Park with significant improvements, revealing conceptual plans for Phase II and III. The envisioned upgrades encompass trail extensions, a 5K route potentially connecting to other trails, and additions like shade structures at the multi-use field area. The community's suggestions during an open house have influenced these plans, with Phase II wish-list items including playgrounds, an amphitheater, a zipline, fitness court, restrooms, picnic tables, pavilions, and more.

President Brian Dunn expressed support for these enhancements, emphasizing the positive impact on the community's character and residents' enjoyment. The township, with a multi-year plan for Exton Park, aims to address the diverse needs of its 20,000 residents, as stated by Supervisor Rajesh Kumbhardare.

The public had the opportunity to view and comment on conceptual drawings for trail extensions and a new recreational area. Exton Park currently boasts 18 miles of paved or boardwalk trails, with plans for an additional 29 miles under construction or proposed. The multi-use fields in the southeast part of the park are utilized for soccer, cricket, and flag football.

Upon approval by the Board of Supervisors, the project can move forward with engineering and land development, with $1.3 million already collected for Phase II. Additional funding sources include $600,000 from the DCNR, $250,000 from the county, and contributions from the township.
