Ganow, who served on the school board for an impressive 26 years, was not only a dedicated education advocate but also an active member of his church community and a longstanding owner of an equipment rental business. The Federal Aviation Administration indicated that the pilot was the sole occupant of the plane.

The tragedy follows a similar incident less than two months ago at Brandywine Regional Airport in West Chester. The school district, deeply affected by Ganow's passing, is arranging counseling and support services for students and staff. Memorial service details are expected to be communicated in the coming days.
