Coatesville to host citywide tribute on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, featuring a peaceful reenactment of the Selma to Montgomery March. Public invited to join the march starting at 8:30 a.m. at 1st and Lincoln Highway. Program includes iconic speeches, a Soul Food Brunch, and a film screening to foster unity and education in the community.

Atkinson Center's Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute: Duplex Renovation for the Homeless

Coatesville community rallies to renovate a duplex in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy, creating housing for three homeless men. Atkinson Center, with volunteers, undertakes the project with funding from an ARPA grant. A recent donation of 250 mattresses from Sealy Corporation enhances living conditions for community members. Chester County Intermediate Unit appoints Christa Fazio as the new director of communications, marketing, and engagement, succeeding Mary Jeanne Curley. Her appointment aims to enhance community relations and further CCIU's mission.

Connecting Pennsylvanians: Butter Sculpture Unveiled at 2024 Farm Show

The Pennsylvania Farm Show introduces a captivating 1,000-pound butter sculpture symbolizing the state's thriving dairy industry and the theme of "Connecting Our Communities." Crafted by Jim Victor and Marie Pelton, the sculpture showcases urban and rural Pennsylvanians sharing a meal in celebration of local produce. Sponsored by industry organizations, the sculpture's butter will be recycled for renewable energy after the event. The Farm Show, in its 108th year, is the nation's largest indoor agricultural expo, running from January 6 to January 13 in Harrisburg.

Wrongful Conviction Fallout: Man Sues Chester County After Third Circuit Finds Lack of Evidence

Marquis Lee Rayner, previously convicted in a 2014 home-invasion murder, is suing Chester County after the Third Circuit found insufficient evidence. Rayner, represented by attorneys from Ross Feller Casey, LLP, filed the lawsuit alleging wrongful imprisonment, highlighting discrepancies in the DNA evidence. He seeks a trial by jury.

Chester County Youth Orchestra Welcomes Musicians for Auditions in Multiple Instruments
