Tractor-Trailer Crash in Uwchlan Township: Five Victims Transported with Serious Injuries
Late on Monday night, a severe collision occurred in Uwchlan Township, Chester County, involving a Kia and a tractor-trailer on Route 100. The crash, which left five individuals with serious injuries, prompted an extensive emergency response. While initial reports suggested a potential police pursuit, authorities have not confirmed this detail, and the circumstances are under investigation. The impact required the rescue of the Kia's occupants, including three teenagers, and the victims were subsequently transported to Paoli Hospital. The crash led to the temporary closure of Route 100, causing significant traffic disruptions, but the road has since reopened.

The Chester County Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently commemorated Hannah Freeman, also recognized as "Indian Hanna," during an Outstanding Women in American History Ceremony. Freeman, potentially the last Lenape Indian in Chester County, lived a multifaceted life as a healer, artisan, farmer, basket weaver, and herbalist from 1731 to 1802. The event, attended by history enthusiasts, unfolded at the likely burial site of Freeman, marked by a 1909 stone inscription. However, historical uncertainties surround Freeman's status as the last Lenape, and discussions during the ceremony delved into the complex historical context. The ceremony also emphasized the importance of preserving heirloom seeds and the ongoing efforts to honor Freeman's last wish for a true Lenape burial ground.

In Chester County, Avon Grove School District will receive $7,500, while both Unionville-Chadds Ford School District and Treehouse Childcare Services are set to receive $15,000 grants.
