West Chester Dad's Frightmaps App Becomes a Halloween Sensation

Michael Kane, a West Chester dad, developed the Frightmaps app, which has gained significant popularity across the country. This application acts as a comprehensive Halloween guide, gathering details on attractions, events, homegrown Halloween displays, and other autumn must-sees. Frightmaps users can explore holiday car washes, walk haunted houses, and plan their Halloween night by marking haunts of interest. Notably, the app allows users to identify the best houses for trick-or-treating and is free for both downloading and submitting Halloween-related information. Kane personally verifies all the uploaded content. This year, he introduced a charity element by raising funds for Skeletons for Hope, directing proceeds to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The haunted houses supporting the charity offer free visits and have a donation QR code for visitors to contribute to St. Jude's cause. Kane, a father and software engineer, also created ChristmasPrism, an app that highlights the best holiday lights and events.

Embiid's Stellar Performance Leads 76ers to Victory Despite Harden's Absence in Home Opener, Maxey Shines

The 76ers' home opener against the Portland Trail Blazers saw the absence of James Harden from active gameplay. Harden, a disgruntled player seeking a trade, showed up for the game but didn't participate, citing ongoing conditioning and ramping up progress. The team's new coach, Nick Nurse, paralleled former coach Doc Rivers' routine regarding Joel Embiid's potential playing status due to a back-to-back game scenario. Despite the ambiguity earlier in the evening, Embiid eventually played, displaying a strong performance with 35 points and 15 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey also shone with 26 points, although he experienced arm tingling after an in-game collision. While Harden's situation remains uncertain, the team's core players, Embiid and Maxey, exhibited pivotal contributions in the 76ers' victory.
