WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester University will unveil a new exhibition on May 1 that recreates the historic Turk's Head Tavern, the Revolutionary-era hub of West Chester borough. Titled "Becoming America in West Chester," the free exhibit was developed by 17 graduate and undergraduate students in the university's Museum Studies Program and will be housed at the Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology in the Old Library building.

The exhibit traces local history from the Lenape people through the founding of the tavern in 1769, the formal establishment of the borough in 1799, and two centuries of community development. Featured artifacts include the tavern's original date stone, Revolutionary War items from a Hessian soldier, and a Civil War infantry drum tied to Charley King, a young West Chester drummer boy buried in Green Mount Cemetery. The exhibition is part of a regional Chester County 250 partnership. It will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a virtual component launching by July 4.

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown High School West has earned a spot among Pennsylvania's elite athletic programs, ranking 18th on USA Today's recently published list of the state's top 25 high schools for athletes. The ranking is based on a study by Niche, which weighs student and parent reviews, state championship totals, athletic participation rates, the variety of sports offered, and federal education data.

Downingtown West offers 25 sports, matching several nearby suburban Philadelphia schools that also made the list, including Central Bucks West, Conestoga, Radnor, and Spring-Ford. The recognition underscores the strength of athletics in Chester County and the broader Philadelphia suburbs.

WEST PIKELAND TWP — A PennDOT pipe replacement project on Yellow Springs Road in West Pikeland Township has been extended, with the closure now expected to last through Wednesday, April 29. The work began on April 13 and was originally scheduled to conclude on April 21, but additional time is needed to complete the repairs.

WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township's annual community celebration, West Bradford Day, is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, at Broad Run Park. The free event runs from noon to 4 p.m. and is set to take place in just three weeks.

This year's lineup includes pony rides, face painting, a bounce obstacle course, and entertainment from The Amazing Spaghetti. The event has become a yearly tradition for residents, offering an afternoon of free family-friendly fun and a chance to connect with neighbors.
