COATESVILLE, PA — Two construction workers died Monday evening on Route 30 in Valley Township after a tractor-trailer triggered a four-vehicle crash near mile marker 270.3. The collision happened shortly before 6:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, where the men had been implementing a traffic pattern inside an established work zone. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two additional people involved in the crash were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The Pennsylvania State Police's Embreeville Patrol Unit responded along with the Chester County Coroner's Office and specialized units from Troop J handling forensics and crash reconstruction. The investigation remains open, and authorities are asking anyone with information to call Troop J's Embreeville station at 610-486-6280.

WEST WHITELAND TWP — A fatal motorcycle crash on a Route 202 ramp in West Whiteland Township is under investigation, and the police are asking the public for help. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, on the ramp from Route 202 southbound to the Exton Bypass, also known as U.S. 30 westbound, according to the West Whiteland Police Department.

Investigators said a Can-Am style motorcycle was involved, but they have not released additional details about the rider or what led to the crash. The Police Department announced the investigation on Monday and is asking anyone who saw the motorcycle before or during the crash to come forward. Dash camera footage from the area can be submitted through Crimewatch or sent directly to Detective Sergeant McCloskey at [email protected].

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — Overnight lane closures will affect westbound U.S. 30 on the Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation continues a multi-million-dollar resurfacing project. From Monday, May 18, through Friday, May 22, a single lane will be closed between Airport Road and Route 340 each night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews mill and pave the roadway.

The closures are part of a broader $9.3 million project along the western portion of the bypass, covering the City of Coatesville and the townships of Caln, Sadsbury, Valley and West Caln. Work in the corridor includes milling, base repairs, a new asphalt overlay, replacement of edge-line rumble strips and fresh pavement markings, all intended to extend the life of the road and improve safety for travelers.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Keep Chester County Beautiful, in partnership with the Chester County Planning Commission, is once again collecting campaign signs for recycling. The drop-off period runs from Monday, May 19, through Friday, May 29, at the Chester County Government Services Center. The initiative gives residents a way to dispose of leftover election signs responsibly rather than sending them to a landfill.
