Turnpike Commission Announces January Toll Increase

HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Turnpike will raise tolls by 4 percent on January 4, continuing a pattern of annual increases required under Act 44. The 2007 legislation, amended in 2013, requires the turnpike to fund statewide transportation projects while managing growing debt. The most common passenger vehicle toll will rise to $1.94 for E-ZPass users and $3.88 for Toll By Plate customers. The commission has contributed $8 billion to state transportation funding since 2008, a stark contrast to the five toll increases implemented during the previous 64 years.
