Toll Brothers Buys 100 Acres in Exton for Region's Largest Age-Restricted Community

EXTON, PA — Toll Brothers has finalized its $70 million acquisition of a 100-acre parcel in Exton, positioning the company to build its largest age-restricted residential community in the Philadelphia region. The site, located at 301-305 Church Farm Lane, was previously guided through local permitting and zoning by the Springfield-based McKee Group before being sold to the Fort Washington homebuilder.
The planned community, part of Toll Brothers' "Regency" collection of active-adult developments, will include 317 units combining townhomes and single-family homes designed for residents 55 and older. Plans call for a resort-style setting with on-site amenities catering to that demographic.
The project stands out locally: it was the largest development approved by West Whiteland Township since 2020 and had the highest unit count of any project reviewed by the Chester County Planning Commission last year. Its location near Swedesford Road, about two miles from Exton Square Mall, gives future residents convenient access to shopping and other services.

Free Tickets Still Up for Grabs for Downingtown Night at Fightin Phils Game

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough officials announced that a limited number of free tickets remain for Downingtown Night, an upcoming Reading Fightin Phils game scheduled for August 14. Residents hoping to attend are encouraged to visit Borough Hall to claim their tickets before the supply runs out.
Tickets can be picked up today before noon, or during the borough's regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Thursday of the following week. The announcement serves as a reminder for residents who may still want to take part in the community outing before availability ends.
Chambers Lake to Close Briefly for Invasive Plant Treatment

COATESVILLE, PA — Chambers Lake will be temporarily closed starting Monday evening, August 3, and continuing through part of the afternoon on Tuesday, August 4, to allow licensed professionals to apply targeted aquatic herbicide treatments aimed at controlling invasive plant species.
The lake is scheduled to reopen later that same day once the treatment has been completed. Officials say that once the application process concludes, the lake will be fully safe for regular recreational activities, including boating and fishing, and there will be no restrictions on consuming fish caught in the lake.
Skelp Level Road to Close Monday for Emergency Repairs

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — East Caln Township has announced that Skelp Level Road in neighboring East Bradford Township will be closed beginning Monday, Aug. 3, for emergency pipe replacement work. The closure is scheduled to run from roughly 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the possibility of continuing into Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 4 and 5, depending on weather conditions. During the closure, East Caln residents will still have access to Oakridge and Springhill Drive by routing through Boot Road. Township officials are encouraging residents to plan ahead and adjust their travel routes while the repair work is completed.
