Downingtown's Sow Good Now Wins Award for Student Mentorship Work

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown-based Sow Good Now will receive the 2025 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Greater Philadelphia Chapter. The nonprofit, which connects student-athletes with underserved youth through sports mentorship, will be honored Nov. 12 at Philadelphia's Crystal Tea Room. The organization uses athletics to teach philanthropic values and build community ties, supported by volunteers, donors and educational partners throughout the region.

Caln Township Environmental Task Force Wins County Sustainability Award

CALN TWP — Caln Township's Sustainability Task Force received the 2025 Exceptional Township Award in the Sustainability Category from the Chester County Association of Township Officials. The honor follows the group's April presentation of an environmental planning report covering stormwater, waste management, renewable energy, land use, biodiversity and transportation. The Board of Commissioners adopted the recommendations and subsequently created an Environmental Advisory Council. The award recognizes work toward sustainable practices for current and future township residents.

Chester County Begins Multi-Day Review of Provisional Ballots Cast on Election Day with Live Cams

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County election officials began reviewing over 12,000 provisional ballots cast after an Election Day error omitted 75,076 third-party and independent voters from polling place records. Staff will work daily, including weekends, until all ballots are examined and counted. The county is livestreaming the process for transparency. Uwchlan Township Receives Silver Certification in State Sustainability Program

UWCHLAN TWP — Uwchlan Township has earned silver certification from Sustainable Pennsylvania, a state program recognizing municipal sustainability efforts. The designation evaluates performance in land use, energy efficiency, waste reduction and fiscal management. Uwchlan joins four other Chester County municipalities at the silver level. A volunteer-led native plant initiative called Heart of Uwchlan, which promotes indigenous species and addresses stormwater management, contributed to the certification. The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal League and Sustainable Pittsburgh.
