Pedestrian Killed Crossing Route 202 in Birmingham Township

WEST CHESTER, PA — A 48-year-old Birmingham Township man was killed Tuesday night while crossing Route 202 near local shopping centers. The pedestrian was struck around 8:15 p.m. in an unlighted area outside a crosswalk. One driver stopped at the scene and will not face charges, though police believe a second vehicle may have been involved. Authorities are seeking witnesses as they investigate the incident, which has prompted calls for increased caution on busy roadways during the holiday season.

The Nutcracker Ballet Returns for Holiday Weekend Run

WEST CHESTER, PA —The Nutcracker returns to local stages December 19-21 with six performances across three days. Shows include a special Friday morning performance for student and senior groups, plus afternoon and evening options throughout the weekend. Tickets range from $30 to $50 depending on seating section. The Friday morning show has sold out in previous years, though some public tickets may be released closer to the date.

YMCA Holiday Program Serves Nearly 2,400 Chester County Children

WEST CHESTER, PA — The YMCA of Greater Brandywine provided holiday gifts, meals and winter essentials to 788 Chester County families, serving 2,359 children through its annual Holiday Cheer program. Nearly 1,000 donors and volunteers contributed items including winter coats, bicycles, meal kits and toys. Families visited seven YMCA branches to select donated gifts in a shopping-style format, also receiving meal kits and $25 gift cards. The organization continues seeking support for 150 additional families requesting holiday assistance.

Freedom Village Donates 761 Pounds to Chester County Food Bank

WEST BRANDYWINE, PA — Freedom Village at Brandywine collected 761 pounds of non-perishable food for the Chester County Food Bank during a November food drive. Residents and staff participated throughout the month, with employees receiving a casual dress incentive for Friday donations. The retirement community's executive director emphasized that charitable work reflects the organization's core values, and noted the contribution addresses increased holiday demand for food assistance.
