"Revolutionary West Chester" Brings 18th-Century History to Life

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County History Center has launched "Revolutionary West Chester," a walking tour marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The program takes participants through historic sites in what was once the colonial village of Turks Head, including a tavern where independence was debated and locations where wounded soldiers were treated after the Battle of Brandywine. School and scout groups can now book educational field trips starting in April for $10 per student, with financial assistance available. Public tour dates will be announced at a later time. Caln Township Opens Applications for Firefighter Positions

CALN TWP — Caln Township is accepting applications for entry-level firefighter positions beginning December 19, 2025. Candidates must hold state-approved certifications in basic and advanced firefighting and have either two years of experience in a combination fire department or five years in a volunteer department. The selection process includes a physical agility test on February 22, 2026, followed immediately by a written exam requiring a 70 percent passing score. Applications must be notarized and submitted to the township building by February 13, 2026. Those who pass initial testing will undergo oral examinations, background checks, and medical evaluations.

West Chester Police Department Seeks Part-Time Dispatchers

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Borough Police Department is hiring part-time communications officers to staff its dispatch center. The position involves handling emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching officers, and managing database checks and monitoring systems. Dispatchers must be able to multitask effectively under high-stress conditions and may work overnight shifts, weekends, and 12-hour tours. A high school diploma or GED and valid driver's license are required, while prior dispatching experience and APCO certification are preferred. The role pays $22.00 per hour and applications remain open until filled. West Pikeland Supervisors to Vote on Seven Resolutions at Reorganization Meeting

WEST PIKELAND TWP — West Pikeland Township supervisors will consider seven resolutions at their January 5, 2026 reorganization meeting, including appointments to boards and committees, fee schedules, designation of the township depository, mileage reimbursement rates, fire company and ambulance service designations, and township manager compensation. The meeting follows December's approval of resolutions on conservation easement acquisition, tax collection transfer to Chester County, and participation in a preservation partnership program. The township continues accepting public input on a proposed outdoor burning ordinance that would replace regulations from 1999.
