Punxsutawney Phil Sees Shadow, Forecasts Six More Weeks of Winter
Punxsutawney, PA β Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Monday morning during the 140th Groundhog Day celebration, predicting six more weeks of winter. Thousands gathered at Gobbler's Knob in Pennsylvania to witness the tradition, while meteorologists confirmed that cold temperatures and additional snow are expected across the eastern United States in the coming week. The National Centers for Environmental Information has previously noted that 40% of the time Phil's predictions are right every time.
Virtual Training Aims to Empower Residents to Lead Litter Removal Initiatives

WEST CHESTER, PA β Keep Chester County Beautiful is offering a free online workshop on February 4 from noon to 1 p.m. to help residents learn how to organize community litter clean-up events. The training session is part of the America250PA in Chester County Stewardship Series, tied to upcoming celebrations marking the nation's 250th anniversary.
The workshop will be led by Beth Intoccia, founder of the Chester County Litter Lifters, who brings extensive experience organizing clean-up efforts throughout the county. The program will cover essential topics including an introduction to the America250 campaign in Chester County, registration is available online.
Chester County DA's Office Recognizes Outstanding Service at Annual Awards

WEST CHESTER, PA β The Chester County District Attorney's Office held its annual awards ceremony on January 23, recognizing prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and support staff for their contributions to public safety. Honors included commendations for the Drug Court Team, which has maintained a 62 percent completion rate since 1997, and citations for three murder prosecution teams. Individual awards went to Detective Joseph Nangle, Detective Sergeant Nicholas Natale, Matthew Waxler, and retired Deputy District Attorney Renee Merion. Free Star-Gazing Event Planned for Hibernia County Park in March

COATESVILLE, PA β Hibernia County Park will host a free star-gazing event on Saturday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pavilion No. 5. The program, organized with the Chester County Astronomical Society and Delaware Amateur Astronomers, will feature a sky talk and telescope viewing of Jupiter and Uranus, weather permitting. Registration is required through the county's online system.
