DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough officials are inviting residents to help shape a new Historic Preservation Plan at a public open house scheduled for Monday, September 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Downingtown Borough Hall. WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township, in partnership with the Chester County Solid Waste Authority, will host a Lithium Battery Collection Event on Saturday, September 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Embreeville Park, 1800 W. Strasburg Road in Coatesville. The event coincides with a separate document shredding event organized by state Rep. Christina Sappey, giving residents the chance to handle two household chores in one trip.

Organizers are asking residents to bring only small-format consumer batteries, the kind commonly found in household electronics. WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township is asking residents to lend a hand in protecting local parkland, with its Land Preservation Committee hosting an Invasive Vegetation Removal event at Broad Run Park on Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. The free event is open to volunteers of all ages, who are encouraged to bring gloves, boots, work clothes and gardening tools to help clear vines and other invasive plants threatening native trees.

The event is part of a wider volunteer network the township relies on to maintain its parks and public spaces, including tree-planting efforts in Shadyside Park, roadside and waterway cleanups through the West Bradford Litter Lifters, and planning support for community gatherings like summer movie nights.
