Downingtown Elects Pennsylvania's First Openly Transgender Mayor
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Erica Deuso won Downingtown's mayoral race Tuesday, becoming Pennsylvania's first openly transgender mayor with 65 percent of the vote. The 45-year-old Democrat, who has a background in business and science, campaigned on local issues including flood mitigation, domestic violence, and city budgeting. Deuso was among over 170 LGBTQ+ Victory Fund-endorsed candidates who won nationwide. She will be sworn in January 7.
Downingtown West Marching Band Wins Regional Title, Heads to MetLife Stadium
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown West's marching band won the Bands of America Mid-Atlantic Regional 3A championship on October 25, defeating 13 competitors and earning awards for visual performance and general effect. The band placed third overall in finals against 29 total competitors, then secured silver at the Pennsylvania State Championships on November 1 with a 94.40 score. They will compete this weekend at the USBands Open Class Championships at MetLife Stadium.
Chester County Opens Recycling Sites for Post-Election Campaign Signs

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County has launched a post-election recycling program to help residents properly dispose of political campaign signs that have proliferated across the region during the recent election cycle.
The program will run through November 16, with signs accepted at six locations during their regular business hours. The collection sites are strategically distributed across the county to provide convenient access for residents. Participating locations include the Chester County Government Services Center, East Whiteland Township facilities, Hibernia Park, Nottingham Park, SECCRA, and Springton Manor Farm.
Chester County Launches Holiday Gingerbread House Contest With Local Prizes

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Welcome Center is hosting its first gingerbread house contest with free entry available through November 12. Four competition categories include Adult, Teen, Youth, and Community Business Partner. Public voting runs December 1-19, with prizes ranging from $200 gift cards and attraction memberships for adult winners to entertainment packages for younger participants.
