One-Lane Traffic Expected on Norwood Road During Sewer Maintenance
DOWNINGTOWN, PA β East Caln Township has announced that sewer line maintenance will cause traffic disruptions on Norwood Road starting the week of January 19th. The township's contractor, USG, will be conducting repairs that require narrowing the road to a single lane throughout the duration of the project.
Traffic flaggers will be positioned along the work zone to guide vehicles safely through the construction area. Township officials are advising drivers to allow extra travel time and proceed with caution when passing through Norwood Road.
Overnight Repairs to Close Lane on U.S. 30 Bypass
CALN, PA β PennDOT will conduct overnight repairs on westbound U.S. 30 between Bondsville Road and Airport Road from January 12-16, with lane closures from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. A single lane will be closed along the affected section of highway, which runs between Route 340 (Bondsville Road) and Airport Road. The repairs represent one phase of a larger $9.3 million investment aimed at enhancing both safety and traffic flow along the U.S. 30 corridor. The project spans multiple municipalities in Chester County, including the City of Coatesville and the townships of Caln, Sadsbury, Valley, and West Caln.

Farm Show's Butter Sculpture Toasts 250 Years of Independence
HARRISBURG, PA β The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg revealed this year's butter sculpture on Thursday, a 1,000-pound creation commemorating the nation's 250th anniversary. The elaborate work depicts Benjamin Franklin and the Founding Fathers at the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence, complete with a celebratory toast featuring milk.
State Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding highlighted how the sculpture connects American history with the agricultural industry that has supported the nation's growth for two and a half centuries. The annual butter sculpture has become a beloved Farm Show tradition, drawing visitors eager to see each year's creation.
The 2026 sculpture incorporates patriotic symbols including the Liberty Bell and references to Betsy Ross, accented with red, white and blue elements. Its base emphasizes Pennsylvania's enduring agricultural heritage and the state's continuing importance as a farming center.
The artwork was created specifically to honor America's semiquincentennial celebration, recognizing Pennsylvania's unique role as the birthplace of the nation and its sustained contribution to American agriculture and economic development. The 110th Pennsylvania Farm Show continues through January 17, featuring livestock exhibitions, agricultural displays, and educational programs alongside the signature butter sculpture.
