Downingtown Borough Installs New Mayor and Council Members

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Downingtown Borough underwent a significant leadership change this week as officials convened for the annual reorganization meeting on January 5. Erica Deuso assumed the role of mayor, marking a new chapter for the municipality's executive leadership. Joining her were three newly elected council members: Michele Smith, Brent Formica, Jr., and Darlene Brigance, who all took their oaths of office during the ceremony.
The meeting balanced looking forward with recognizing past service. Borough officials took time to acknowledge the contributions of outgoing Mayor Phil Dague, whose tenure concluded with the reorganization. Three departing council members—Steve Plaugher, Lindsay Helm, and Ted Rohrig—were also recognized for their years of dedication to the community.

Adam Thomas was sworn in as the newest commissioner, transitioning from his role on the township's Planning Commission to full board membership.
Jane Kennedy took the oath for her second term, providing continuity in township governance, while Josh Young embarked on his sixth consecutive term—a tenure that establishes him as one of the board's most experienced members. Young was selected to serve as Board President for the upcoming year. Mark Evans will serve alongside him as Vice President.
