Township Officials Recognize Downingtown Police Department's Daily Commitment

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — East Caln Township officials issued a public message of appreciation this week for the Downingtown Police Department, recognizing the force's continuous work to protect residents, local businesses and visitors. Shared through the township's social media, the statement highlighted the department's 24-hour presence and the professionalism officers demonstrate during routine patrols, overnight shifts and community events.

West Bradford Township Plans Months of Free Events at Broad Run and Shadyside Parks

WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township's Parks and Recreation Commission has announced a full slate of summer 2026 programming, anchored at Broad Run Park and Shadyside Park and running from mid-May through early September. The season opens May 17 with West Bradford Day, followed by free Wednesday-night yoga sessions at Shadyside Park each week through early September. Thursday-night outdoor movies at Broad Run Park will feature titles including SpongeBob, Karate Kid: Legends, Wicked for Good, Zootopia 2 and Down and Derby, with $1 ice cream and pre-show presentations from local organizations such as Lupo Taekwondo, Touch of Class and Boy Scout Troop 52. The concert lineup includes the Tommy Froelich Band, WhiskeyHickon Boys with The FunkWagon Deluxe and the Lenape Brass Ensemble, the latter performing as part of an America 250 celebration. A family magic show by The Amazing Spaghetti rounds out the schedule on July 30.

April Food Drive Surpasses 500 Pounds for Local Families in Need

UWCHLAN TWP — Upper Uwchlan and Uwchlan Townships announced this week that their joint April food drive for the Chester County Food Bank brought in more than 500 pounds of donations, with the two municipalities competing in a friendly month-long collection effort. Uwchlan Township led with 317 pounds, followed by Upper Uwchlan Township at 216 pounds, for a combined total of 533 pounds. Residents donated canned meats, beans, soups, cereal, hygiene products and cleaning supplies — items the food bank regularly identifies as high-need. Township officials credited the community's participation with helping expand access to nutritious food and essential goods across Chester County. Chester County Offers Free Cemetery Flags and Grave Markers to Honor Veterans

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County residents seeking to honor veterans for Memorial Day can pick up cemetery flags and grave markers at no cost through the county's Veterans Affairs Department. The flags and markers are intended for placement at the gravesites of veterans interred in Chester County cemeteries and remain available year-round, not just during the Memorial Day period. The program is part of the department's ongoing work to recognize the service of local veterans and support families, civic organizations and volunteers who maintain veterans' gravesites. Pickups can be arranged by calling 610-344-6375.
