WEST BRANDYWINE TWP — For over a month, an unidentified drone has been appearing over neighborhoods in West Brandywine Township, Chester County, typically between 8 and 11 p.m. Police say the aircraft, marked by red and white flashing lights in a triangular pattern, may be equipped with a high-resolution camera capable of zooming into homes, raising particular concern for residents with skylights. Sightings have been reported across several areas, including the Howson Development, Fairview, Devereux, Little Conestoga and Lamb Tavern, and have also spread to nearby Wallace Township, where residents on Whitetail Ridge say they've seen the same aircraft. The identity of the drone's operator remains unknown, and police say that each home the drone has flown over could represent a separate offense if privacy laws were violated, potentially compounding penalties. Police Chief Jeff Kimes said the department is actively investigating and has appealed to the operator to come forward voluntarily to resolve residents' concerns. Homeowner Danielle Goel, whose family was drawn to their development for its large windows, said the sightings have left her worried about her family's privacy and safety, particularly given the late hours of the flights. Police are urging anyone who spots the drone to contact the West Brandywine Police Department and say they intend to pursue the maximum legal penalties if the flights are found to be invasive.

MALVERN, PA — Several foxes displaying symptoms of mange have been spotted in Malvern, Chester County, prompting local wildlife officials to issue guidance to residents. Mange, caused by mites, can leave foxes with patchy fur, scabbed skin, and a thin or lethargic appearance, though the condition is treatable and often resolves on its own in foxes with strong immune systems, provided they aren't disturbed. Officials are cautioning residents against feeding the animals, noting that doing so can draw foxes closer to homes and raise the risk of spreading the condition further. Handling or attempting to treat an infected fox is also discouraged, and doing so without a permit is against the law. To limit close encounters, residents are advised to keep pets indoors or supervised and secure trash that might otherwise attract the animals. Anyone who encounters a fox that appears to be in significant distress is encouraged to contact the Pennsylvania Game Commission at 833-PGC-WILD for guidance rather than intervening themselves.

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is reminding the public that applications for the 2026 West Chester Christmas Parade are due Sunday, Aug. 16. The parade, part of the Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends celebration, will take place Friday, Dec. 4, beginning with the lighting of the borough's 28-foot Christmas tree at 6:30 p.m., followed by the parade itself at 7 p.m. through downtown blocks decorated with roughly 100,000 lights. 6ABC's Adam Joseph and B101's Kathy Romano will return as emcees. This year's celebration coincides with the national America250 anniversary, which organizers say will be reflected in the parade's theme alongside its usual holiday elements. Businesses sponsoring parade elements can send employees to march alongside professional performers. Organizers are urging interested applicants to submit soon, warning that the parade's performer capacity could be reached before the deadline. EXTON, PA — The West Whiteland Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying individuals connected to a retail theft at the Wawa located at 690 E. Lincoln Highway in Exton. The incident took place on Aug. 12, 2026, at approximately 7:55 p.m., and has been classified by police as a shoplifting case under criminal investigation. Officers have released an image of the individuals believed to be involved in hopes that someone in the community can help identify them.
