Mother Breaks Silence After Infant Son Allegedly Attacked by Father in Coatesville

COATESVILLE, PA β€” A Coatesville mother has issued her first public statement following the hospitalization of her three-month-old son, who was allegedly attacked by his father on February 11. Michael Phillips, 44, faces attempted homicide charges in connection with the incident. The mother said she is focused on her son's recovery and asked for privacy as the family navigates the legal and medical process. A fundraiser has raised over $28,000 to support the child's care. Phillips remains in custody.

The post by Dominique Cialini-Phillips read:
As you are probably aware, my family has experienced a horrific nightmare. Please know that I am fully cooperating with detectives and medical professionals.

Briggs is incredibly strong and an amazing little boy. He is a fighter. While he is the obvious victim, he is not the only victim. Our family is devastated by the events that occurred. Up until this event, Mike has been an amazing dad, husband, and human being. His actions were not consistent with any part of the man that the boys and I know and love dearly. While I fully understand the need to demonize him based on the information made public, it is not helpful. My heart achesβ€”for my youngest son, who is fighting for his life; for my middle son, who experienced these events alongside me; for my oldest son, whose world was turned upside down; and for my husband, who will eventually be lucid and realize what he did to the son he loved so, so deeply.

While I understand the outpouring of public rage and the community’s need to know, comments about Mike and his character have only added to the pain our family is experiencing. I am thankful, for everyone else’s sake, that they do not know the full details of what happened. I wish more than anything that I could forget them myself. With that in mind, please be mindful of the comments you make and the information you choose to believe.

What Mike did was horrific and inexcusable, but right now my focus is on helping my beautiful baby boy get healthy. I do not think I will ever comprehend what caused this horrific departure from the man my boys and I know Mike to be, but I am hopeful that people will allow us to heal without the burden of their opinions about his character while the criminal and medical investigations are ongoing.

Please continute to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this experience. Thank you.

Revolutionary War Cannon Replica on Display at Chester County Welcome Center

WEST CHESTER, PA β€” A replica Revolutionary War cannon is the newest attraction at the Chester County Welcome Center, where it is being displayed in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.

The half-scale model of a 12-pounder cannon was constructed in 1973 by Charles C. Taccone and his family and has been loaned to the Welcome Center for visitors to view. The piece can be seen at the center's location inside the Historic Chester County Courthouse, accessible through a side entrance across from Wild Honey Hair Salon.

The original 12-pounder cannons played a vital role in the American Revolution. These heavy, smoothbore weapons fired 12-pound iron projectiles and were capable of breaching fortifications, damaging ships, and breaking enemy lines with solid shot, canister, and grapeshot ammunition.
