Final Days for Brandywine’s Beloved Seasonal Train Display

CHADDS FORD, PA — The Brandywine Museum of Art’s holiday railroad display in Chadds Ford, a staple since 1972, is entering its final days. The intricate setup includes O-gauge trains running over 2,000 feet of track, with whimsical touches and hidden surprises throughout. After the holiday season, the large-scale display is dismantled and stored, returning each year under the supervision of a longtime railroad specialist. Visitors can also explore “The Wonderful World of Wyeth Miniatures,” featuring historic dollhouses and trains, before both exhibits close on January 5.

Head-On Collision Claims Life of Chester County Man With Notable 75-Year Career

LONDON GROVE TWP — A collision on East Baltimore Pike in London Grove claimed the life of Robert Burns, an 88-year-old retiree with an extensive professional history spanning 75 years. Burns began working as a young teenager in a family pharmacy, held various positions in sales, and ultimately spent years with a company specializing in portable traffic signals before retiring at the close of 2023. Family members confirm that another passenger in his vehicle was injured but has been released from the hospital.

Authorities allege the pickup involved crossed the center line before striking Burns’s car head-on. The pickup’s driver, a Kennett Square resident, was apprehended at the scene and charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, as well as driving with a suspended license. Officials note that he has a previous DUI arrest and was free on pending charges at the time of the crash. His preliminary hearing is expected to be scheduled in the coming days.
