Local partners, including the East Bradford Veterinary Hospital, are contributing resources to ensure the dog’s medical care and success in the field.

Chester County Secures $5 Million for Parks, Trails, and Conservation

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Chester County secured nearly $5 million in new grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). These awards will fund 10 projects, including the expansion of the Chester Valley Trail via the Boot Road Trailhead acquisition and the Downingtown Trestle rehabilitation design, as well as the launch of an Open Space Accelerator Program to support municipal land-use plans. Additional beneficiaries include East Whiteland Township, which will establish a community park, and several other municipalities that will upgrade local recreation areas or improve environmental sustainability through meadow plantings and riparian forest buffers.

The program’s statewide total reached $79.4 million across 307 projects, signaling a broad commitment to conservation and recreation. Chester County’s share aligns with other major funding allocations it recently received, such as nearly $13 million from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account and $20 million from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s Municipal Bridge Retro-reimbursement Program.
