Downingtown Fire Department Prepares for Arrival of Advanced Fire Engines

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Fire Department is nearing the completion of a significant upgrade to its fleet with the acquisition of two 2024 Pierce Enforcer engines. Borough representatives recently traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin, to inspect the vehicles, which will replace aging equipment at Alert Fire Company No. 1 and Minquas Fire Company No. 2. The new engines boast advanced features, including 450-horsepower Cummins engines, 1,750-gallon-per-minute pumps, and 750-gallon tanks, ensuring they are ready to meet modern firefighting demands.
This project, which began in May 2022, has been a collaborative effort involving the Downingtown Borough Council, the Borough Manager, and East Caln Township Supervisors. The engines are expected to arrive later this year, followed by a training program for fire apparatus operators. Once fully equipped and training is complete, the engines will be placed into service, furthering the department’s commitment to safety and readiness..
