Falling Tree Limb Claims Life of Driver in West Whiteland Township
WEST WHITELAND TWP β A deadly accident on South Ship Road near Stonegate Court in West Whiteland Township claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman on Thursday morning. The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. when a falling tree limb struck the roof of a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban traveling southbound. The impact forced the vehicle to continue a short distance before it came to a stop in the northbound lanes.
Emergency responders from the West Whiteland Police Department, local fire department, and ambulance services worked to assist the two occupants of the vehicle. Tragically, the driver succumbed to her injuries at the scene. A juvenile passenger was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital for treatment, though details on their condition were not disclosed.
Authorities are investigating the incident, which appears to have been caused by the falling tree limb. The names of the individuals involved have not been released
Historic Photo Contest Winner to Light Calnβs Holiday Tree

CALN TWP β This Sunday, Caln Township will host its annual tree-lighting ceremony, with lifelong resident Romaine Dunlap serving as the official Tree Lighter. Dunlap was selected for the honor after submitting a photo from the late 1800s during the townshipβs Historic Photo Contest last month. The photograph, which depicts her ancestors, the family of James Kearns, standing outside their home on South Caln Road, was recognized as the oldest submission.
The Kearns-Dunlap house, still in excellent condition, stands as a testament to the areaβs history. Residents can learn more about the homeβs storied past through resources provided by the township. The event, beginning at 5:00 p.m., offers an opportunity for the community to gather, celebrate the season, and reflect on its heritage.
