CHADDS FORD, PA โ€” In a unanimous vote, the Unionville-Chadds Ford School Board has authorized the purchase of five electric school buses, a move heralded as both environmentally responsible and financially feasible thanks to substantial grant funding. The $1.9 million cost of the buses will be offset by three grants, bringing the districtโ€™s out-of-pocket expenses to $397,000. Board members cited the availability of these funds as a critical factor in their decision, which follows months of discussion on the viability of electric vehicles for the district.

Community Survey Launched for Chester County Emergency Planning

Lost in the Storm

WEST CHESTER, PA โ€” Chester County is taking proactive steps to improve its emergency preparedness by updating its Mitigation Plan, a strategic document that outlines how the community can reduce risks and respond effectively to various hazards. To make the plan as comprehensive as possible, the Chester County Department of Emergency Services is seeking feedback from residents through a brief 10-question survey.

The department is calling on homeowners, renters, and other community members to share their perspectives on emergency planning. The input gathered will be used to tailor the countyโ€™s strategies to meet the unique needs of its residents, ensuring a more robust and inclusive preparedness framework. The survey is available online and open to all county residents. By participating, individuals can contribute to a safer, more resilient Chester County.
