Coatesville Rotary Collects Coats for Families in Need

COATESVILLE, PA — The Rotary Club of Coatesville is making a difference this winter with its annual coat drive, aimed at helping local families stay warm during the colder months. The initiative invites community members to donate new or gently used coats for men, women, and children. Donations will be accepted until December 15 at the Caln Township Building's entryway. Once collected, The Salvation Army will oversee the distribution, ensuring the donations reach those who need them most.

Vision Partnership Program Awards Boost Local Projects Across Chester County

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Chester County has unveiled the latest recipients of its 2024 Vision Partnership Program (VPP), aimed at advancing local planning and development efforts.

In Downingtown, a $73,000 Comprehensive Parking Plan study will address increasing parking needs driven by the borough’s growing population and businesses. The VPP will contribute $30,000, with the borough covering the remaining costs.

East Pikeland Township is set to launch a $75,000 Park, Recreation, Open Spaces, and Trails Plan. The initiative will focus on acquiring open space, expanding trails, and improving park facilities. Funding includes $25,000 from the VPP, $25,000 from a state planning grant, and $10,000 from a PECO Green Region Grant, with the township providing the rest.

West Chester Adopts Rules for Short-Term Rentals After Lengthy Debate

I took these for AirBnb, but they’re so pretty

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Borough Council has enacted an ordinance to regulate short-term rentals, marking the culmination of two years of debate. The new rules restrict rentals to the Town Center District, capping their total number at 20 units borough-wide. Prospective operators will be placed on a waiting list once the limit is reached.

Key requirements include one off-street parking space per bedroom, a general liability insurance policy of at least $1 million, and an annual permit transferable to new property owners. Rentals are limited to stays of 30 days or less and cannot serve as student housing. Additionally, special events, such as weddings, are prohibited.

$750K Grant to Modernize West Chester’s Sewer Infrastructure

WEST CHESTER, PA — West Chester Borough Council and Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste announced the approval of a $750,000 grant to upgrade the Goose Creek sewer conveyance system. The project, focusing on a stretch between Marshall Square Park and the Goose Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant near Route 202, addresses critical bottlenecks that have hindered business expansion and redevelopment opportunities within the sewershed.

This initiative marks the first phase of a larger plan to modernize West Chester’s wastewater infrastructure, ensuring it can accommodate future growth and redevelopment. The grant is part of a broader funding effort by borough leadership, which has successfully secured 16 grants contributing $4 million to West Chester’s 2025 preliminary budget.
