Upper Uwchlan Township Lands $350,000 Grant for Hickory Park Overhaul

Image: UpperUwchlan-parks.com

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP - Upper Uwchlan Township is set to transform Hickory Park with the help of a $350,000 grant from Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The grant, part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, will fund extensive upgrades, including new pickleball and basketball courts, a cricket/rugby pitch, and a baseball field with a pavilion. Existing facilities such as walkways, volleyball courts, and parking areas will see much-needed renovations.

The project also focuses on inclusivity and environmental sustainability, incorporating stormwater management improvements, ADA accessibility upgrades, landscaping, and signage. Hickory Park, a vital recreational hub for the township, will become more accommodating and enjoyable for residents of all abilities and interests. The funding is part of a larger initiative, with over $8.2 million allocated this year to support conservation projects across Pennsylvania.

Pop-Up Disc Golf Courses Coming to Hibernia and Nottingham Parks

COATESVILLE, PA — Chester County is rolling out two temporary disc golf courses that promise a blend of challenge and natural beauty for experienced players. Designed by county park rangers, the courses feature a mix of open-field shots and forested holes to test players’ skills.

The courses will be available for two weekends only—November 23-24 at Hibernia County Park and December 7-8 at Nottingham County Park. This limited-time initiative aims to highlight the sport’s rising popularity while giving local disc golf enthusiasts an opportunity to enjoy the game in Chester County’s picturesque park settings.

Holiday Cheer: Register Now for Caln Township’s Decorating Competition

CALN TWP — Caln Township’s annual holiday decorating contest is back, offering residents and businesses the chance to showcase their seasonal spirit. Organized by the township’s Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by Hatt’s True Value Hardware, the contest is free to enter and open to the community.

Judging will take place on December 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with winners selected in categories like "Best Use of Lawn Ornaments," "Best Use of Lights," "Best Multimedia," "Best Use of a Small Space," and "Classic Holiday." Additionally, a "Residents' Choice" category will allow the community to vote for their favorite display on Facebook. Each winner will receive a $25 gift card to Hatt’s True Value and a special ornament.

Last year’s winners are excluded from winning the same categories but are encouraged to participate and share their efforts as part of the event map. Registration closes on December 17, and all participants are required to have their decorations fully operational during judging hours.
