CTC Launches Youth-Focused Fundraising Campaign with New Mascot
DOWNINGTOWN, PA - Communities That Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) has launched its annual campaign under the theme “Empowering Downingtown Youth,” with the goal of raising $10,000 by year’s end to fund mental health and substance abuse prevention programs for local youth. Addressing concerns raised by the Pennsylvania Youth Survey, CTC emphasizes the urgent need for early intervention in youth mental health. This year’s campaign introduces ROCKY, a mascot symbolizing resilience and compassion, who will visit local businesses and organizations to build community awareness.
WCU Orchestra Brings Saint-Saëns’ Music to Life with Free Concert in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester University Symphony Orchestra will present a free concert on Saturday evening, celebrating the music of Camille Saint-Saëns. Conducted by Paul Bryon, the program, titled "Sensational Saint-Saëns," features pianist Thomas Hsu, who will perform the first movement of Piano Concerto No. 2, and mezzo-soprano Dr. Emily Bullock, who will offer two pieces from Samson and Delilah. The concert will culminate in the powerful "Organ Symphony." Known for its rich repertoire and campus performances, the WCU Symphony Orchestra continues its season with additional performances in early 2025, further enriching the local music scene.

National Weather Service Warns of Fire Risk in Southeastern PA, NJ This Weekend
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — On Saturday, southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be under a fire weather watch due to gusty winds and low humidity, creating ideal conditions for potential fire spread. The National Weather Service has advised against outdoor burning, as any fire could quickly grow out of control. Pennsylvania counties affected include Berks, Chester, and Philadelphia, among others, while New Jersey counties under watch range from Sussex to Cape May. Weather conditions are forecasted to include temperatures from the low 60s to mid-30s, winds up to 30 mph, and humidity as low as 25%.
