Chester County DA Announces New Arrests in Wawa Shooting
WEST CHESTER, PA — Two more arrests were made this week in connection with a violent October 19 incident at a West Goshen Wawa, where an apparent attempted robbery over marijuana escalated to gunfire. Zubair Bethea, 20, and Omar Beard, 31, both from Chester, were taken into custody Monday and charged with robbery, conspiracy, and intent to deliver. Video footage and witness accounts show that a physical altercation in the parking lot led to gunfire as the suspects reportedly fought over a bag containing marijuana. Following their arraignment, Bethea and Beard remain in custody on $500,000 bail each.
Chester County Launches Campaign Sign Recycling to Reduce Waste
CALN TWP — As part of a commitment to environmental stewardship, Chester County is offering residents the opportunity to recycle old campaign signs at select drop-off locations across the county. By placing sign materials in marked bins, participants contribute to a broader recycling initiative that reduces waste and supports county beautification efforts. After the collection period, volunteers will handle the recycling process, helping to keep Chester County clean in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.
Wawa Recalls 60,000 Tumblers Due to Hazardous Metal Straws
WAWA, PA — In a recent recall, Wawa has pulled about 60,000 branded tumblers from circulation due to concerns over metal straws that could potentially cause lacerations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that four injuries have already been linked to the product, which was sold at Wawa locations across multiple states in August. Customers are urged to stop using the metal straws and reach out to Halo Branding Solutions for a silicone replacement option or a $15 gift card refund if they choose to return the tumbler. The items should not be returned to Wawa stores, with all return and replacement requests handled directly by Halo.
