Chester County Implements Countywide 30-Day Outdoor Burn Ban
CHESTER COUNTY PA — Chester County has implemented a 30-day open burn ban effective October 27, aimed at reducing wildfire risks driven by dry conditions and increased brush fires. The ban, recommended by the Department of Emergency Services and endorsed by county commissioners, restricts all outdoor burning activities until November 24. Officials emphasize community compliance to ease the load on emergency services amid continued fire-prone weather.
Shadyside Road Closures Planned for Safety Upgrades
WEST BRADFORD TWP — West Bradford Township will close sections of Shadyside Road between Marshallton Thorndale Road and Route 322 on October 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for scheduled maintenance. Crews will trim trees on Tuesday to improve visibility of traffic signals, followed by line painting on Wednesday to ensure clear road markings. These closures aim to enhance driver safety and reduce potential hazards by maintaining visibility and providing better guidance. Local officials encourage drivers to consider alternative routes during the closures to avoid delays.
Coatesville Area School District Breaks Ground on Doe Run Elementary
EAST FALLOWFIELD TWP — Last week, Coatesville Area School District began construction on Doe Run Elementary School, a state-of-the-art facility set to open in East Fallowfield for the 2026-27 school year. The 112,000-square-foot building will serve as a central part of the district’s facilities modernization, accommodating 750 students and replacing two older elementary schools. The school’s design includes dedicated grade wings, a media center, and outdoor play areas, as well as community spaces for evening use. The construction is part of the district’s larger "Growing Stronger" initiative, which includes boundary realignments, renovations at other schools, and a shift to a traditional middle school model in the 2025-26 school year.
