Three Arrested in West Chester for Vehicle Theft and Vandalism Spree

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department has apprehended three individuals in connection with a spree of vehicle-related crimes that took place in September 2024. Kevin Dota-Jaramillo, 19, and two juveniles have been charged following an investigation into multiple incidents, including vehicle theft and vandalism. On September 11, police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle on Downingtown Pike, which led to the discovery that several cars in the area had been targeted. A short time later, another report was made regarding a stolen vehicle from a parking lot on West Gay Street.

The investigation connected the incidents to the same group of suspects, culminating in arrests in early October. The charges range from vehicle theft to criminal conspiracy. Police continue to look into the full scope of the incidents as legal proceedings get underway. The suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Houlahan and Young Square Off in House District 6 Congressional Debate

READING, PA — The candidates for Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District participated in a debate that gave voters insight into their platforms ahead of the upcoming election. Incumbent Chrissy Houlahan, a Democrat, emphasized her legislative experience and highlighted her work on key issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development. Her Republican challenger, Neil Young, proposed an alternative vision, advocating for fresh leadership and new approaches in Washington. Moderated by the NAACP’s Stacey Taylor and organized by the League of Women Voters of Berks County, the debate was an opportunity for the candidates to address voters directly and present their distinct plans for the district's future. With clear contrasts in their policies, the race is set to be a competitive one.
