Paoli Hospital Temporarily Closed Following Operating Room Fire
PAOLI, PA — Paoli Hospital temporarily closed following a small fire that broke out in an operating room around noon. Ambulances were diverted to other local hospitals, and staff took immediate action to contain the situation. Thirty employees were evaluated as a precaution, but no patients were affected. The Paoli Fire Company responded promptly and remained on site until the situation was fully secured by mid-afternoon. By 5:30 p.m., the hospital had resumed normal operations. An internal investigation is underway to assess the cause of the fire, and the hospital plans to submit a report to the relevant regulatory agencies.
Kennett Firefighters Celebrate Community with First Fall Fest
UNIONVILLE, PA — The combined fire departments of Po-Mar-Lin, Kennett, and Longwood hosted the first annual Fall Fest, held at the Po-Mar-Lin firehouse in East Marlborough Township. Families gathered for a day of activities, including a hayride, local food vendors, and interactive demonstrations of fire and EMS equipment. The event was designed to educate the public about the emergency services in the Kennett region and strengthen community ties. Attendees had the opportunity to meet local firefighters, explore emergency vehicles, and learn more about the critical work of first responders in the area.
Coatesville Economic Forum Returns with Focus on Workforce and Small Business Growth
COATESVILLE, PA — On November 1, 2024, the City of Coatesville will hold its 2nd Annual Economic Forum, an event designed to showcase the city’s economic achievements and future goals. This year’s forum will bring together a range of stakeholders, including state and local leaders, business influencers, and entrepreneurs. A highlight of the event will be presentations by leading women in business, exploring their impact on the evolving economic landscape.
The forum will feature three key panels discussing workforce development, the future of trades, and small business development. Attendees will also participate in breakout sessions focused on economic revitalization strategies for both urban and rural communities. Sponsored by organizations like Comcast and PA American Water, the forum provides an opportunity for attendees to connect with local and regional partners, learn about new economic trends, and explore growth opportunities in Coatesville and the surrounding area.

Ranger-Led Hike Through Nottingham Park to Highlight Local Military History
NOTTINGHAM, PA — On November 11, Ranger Goodeaux will lead a 4-mile hike through Nottingham County Park, offering participants a chance to learn about local military history while tackling some of the park’s more challenging terrain. The hike, which includes steep uphill sections, will reward participants with stunning views of the serpentine barrens, a rare ecological feature of the region. Designed to honor military servicemembers and their families, the event encourages participants to bring a rucksack and canteen, adding a symbolic element to the experience. This free event runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is open for registration.
