Longwood Gardens to Unveil Historic Expansion This November
KENNETT SQUARE PA — On November 22, 2024, Longwood Gardens will open "Longwood Reimagined," a sweeping renovation and expansion that has been in progress for the last three years. This ambitious project revitalizes 17 acres of the gardens, blending historical preservation with innovative new features. The centerpiece is the West Conservatory, a 32,000-square-foot glasshouse that appears to float on water and houses Mediterranean-inspired gardens.
The project also includes the relocation of the historic Cascade Garden, the creation of a Bonsai Courtyard featuring one of North America's most distinguished bonsai collections, and new outdoor pathways connecting different sections of the gardens.
Shooting Outside West Chester Wawa Leads to One Injured, Suspects in Custody
WEST CHESTER, PA — West Goshen police are investigating a shooting that took place on Saturday afternoon outside a Wawa on East Market Street in West Chester. The incident stemmed from an argument between two individuals, which escalated into gunfire near the Wawa and TD Bank.
One of the individuals involved was shot and transported to Chester County Hospital for treatment, while the second person was taken into custody by West Goshen police. Authorities later confirmed that both individuals involved in the shooting are accounted for, and there is no ongoing danger to the public. Downingtown Water Authority to Perform Hydrant Flushing on Tuesday and Wednesday
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — The Downingtown Municipal Water Authority will conduct its semi-annual hydrant flushing on October 22 and 23 to maintain high-quality water service and ensure fire hydrants are in good working condition. The flushing will take place in two intervals, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. both days.
Residents may notice discolored water or reduced pressure during the flushing, which is a normal part of the process. The water authority recommends letting the water run until it is clear before using it. Those who have medical needs that require an uninterrupted water supply should contact the authority ahead of time at 610-269-5362.
