Teen Arrested in Coatesville School Bus Shooting; Three Suspects Still at Large
COATESVILLE, PA — A 17-year-old from Chester County is in custody after a shooting targeting a student on a school bus in Coatesville on Thursday. Authorities have identified the suspect as Jaki White-Marshall, who faces charges of aggravated assault. No one was injured in the attack, though the bus was struck twice by gunfire before being driven to safety. Law enforcement is actively seeking three other individuals involved in the shooting and encourages them to surrender. Authorities believe the incident was the result of a personal dispute, and there is no indication of a broader threat to the community. Coatesville students remained at home on Friday as the investigation continues.
West Whiteland Police Release Image of Suspect in Barnes and Noble Theft Investigation
EXTON, PA — The West Whiteland Township Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in connection with a theft at the Barnes and Noble store in Exton on October 3, 2024. The department has released an image of the individual and is asking anyone with information to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities focusing on gathering leads to help solve the case. Police Seek Information in Identity Theft Case in West Whiteland
EXTON, PA — The West Whiteland Township Police Department is currently investigating a case involving identity theft and fraud and has reached out to the public for help. Investigators have released an image of a person they believe may have information related to the crime. DCCC Receives $1 Million Gift to Support Coatesville Students with New Scholarship Fund
MEDIA, PA — Delaware County Community College (DCCC) has been awarded a $1 million estate gift from Louise A. Strauss, a generous endowment that will fund a scholarship program for students from Coatesville. The gift reflects the Strauss family’s longstanding commitment to education, following in the philanthropic footsteps of Louise’s mother, Ione Apfelbaum Strauss, a trailblazer in higher education.
The scholarship fund is designed to support students from the Coatesville School District, over 320 of whom enroll annually at DCCC. The fund will provide critical financial assistance, helping local students access college education. The DCCC Educational Foundation, which manages various student resources and scholarship programs, will oversee the administration of the new fund.
Annual Lionville Fire Company Open House Focuses on Fire Prevention and Safety
LIONVILLE, PA — As part of National Fire Prevention Week, the Lionville Fire Company will host its annual open house on October 17, emphasizing this year’s theme, “Smoke alarms: make them work for you!” The event comes in response to data from the National Fire Protection Association, which shows that a significant number of home fire deaths occur in residences without functioning smoke alarms. The open house will feature fire safety demonstrations, allowing visitors to learn about the importance of smoke alarms and fire prevention strategies. Community members will also have the opportunity to meet local firefighters, view fire trucks, and enjoy light refreshments.
