Father and Sons Face 71 Charges in Pennsylvania Deer Poaching Investigation

WEST CHESTER, PA — A two-year investigation by the Pennsylvania Game Commission has resulted in 71 charges against three Chester County men accused of illegally hunting trophy-sized white-tailed deer in Chester and Delaware counties. The men, a father and his two sons, allegedly poached the deer outside of the permitted season, at night, and beyond the state's limit of one buck per hunter per year.

The accused, identified as Carl Nelson III, 70, and his sons Mark Nelson, 40, and Carroll Nelson IV, 44, face a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges that could lead to multi-year prison sentences, fines of up to $15,000, and extensive revocation of their hunting licenses. During the investigation, authorities seized nearly 50 trophy deer mounts and antler sets, underscoring the severity of the alleged violations. The case remains open as officials look into the possibility of additional individuals being involved.

New Kimberton Whole Foods Location Coming to Eagleview Town Center

EAGLEVIEW, PA — Kimberton Whole Foods, an independent and family-owned grocer, will expand its presence in Chester County with the opening of its largest store at Eagleview Town Center in the spring of 2026. Construction on the 14,000-square-foot store begins this month. The new location will offer a wide selection of organic produce, grass-fed meats, and specialty items, along with grab-and-go meals and options for online shopping and curbside pickup.

The store is part of a larger project led by the Hankin Group, which includes adding 41 luxury apartments above the grocery store, expanding the Claremont on the Square community. The development will enhance Eagleview’s reputation as a sustainable, community-focused hub, integrating retail and residential spaces.

Kimberton Whole Foods, known for its dedication to local sourcing, will continue its support of local nonprofits through community-focused programs. With seven locations already established in southeastern Pennsylvania, the company’s expansion into Eagleview positions it as a key player in the region’s natural foods market.Share the newsletter
