Skelp Level Road Bridge Replacement Project Set to Begin in November
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — East Caln Township has announced the replacement of the Skelp Level Road Bridge, a project scheduled to commence on November 4, 2024. The construction is expected to close the road for up to 12 months, during which the bridge will be rebuilt to enhance safety and access for local drivers. Residents in the affected area, particularly those around Oakridge Drive, will need to use detour routes, including Springhill Drive and Route 322. Emergency services have been informed, and the township is providing updates and information on their website. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the township office at 610-269-1989.
Jury Decides Fate of Exton Resident Accused of Stabbing Neighbor in Feud Over Fence
EXTON, PA — The Chester County Common Pleas Court jury is reviewing the case of Glenn Phillips, an Exton resident charged with attempted murder following a confrontation with his neighbor, Charles Oswald, in the summer of 2023. The altercation, rooted in a prolonged property dispute, left Oswald seriously injured. Phillips argues he acted in self-defense after Oswald confronted him outside his home and punched him, but prosecutors contend Phillips escalated the situation into a near-fatal stabbing.
The dispute, involving the positioning of a fence and overhanging trees along their shared property line, had simmered for years. Tensions culminated in a street-side altercation in front of Phillips’ home, resulting in Oswald sustaining multiple stab wounds.

Castellanos Hits Walk Off to Tie NLDS in Thrilling 7-6 Victory Over Mets
Mr. Walkoff comes through BIG TIME

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In an instant playoff classic, the Philadelphia Phillies edged out the New York Mets in a 7-6 walk-off victory to even the National League Division Series at one game apiece. The Mets jumped to an early lead with home runs from Mark Vientos and Pete Alonso, but the Phillies’ offense erupted in the later innings.
Philadelphia rallied with back-to-back home runs by Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos in the sixth to tie the game, and after Brandon Nimmo put the Mets ahead with a solo shot in the seventh, Bryson Stott’s two-run triple gave the Phillies a brief lead in the eighth. Vientos struck again in the ninth, launching a game-tying two-run homer, but the Phillies would not be denied. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Trea Turner and Harper drew crucial walks, setting the stage for Castellanos to win it with a sharp single to right.
The nail-biting victory sends the series back to Citi Field in New York for Game 3 on Tuesday. The series, now a best-of-three, will see veterans Aaron Nola and Sean Manaea take the mound for their respective teams as they vie for a spot in the National League Championship Series.
