Witness’s Unclear Testimony Adds Confusion to West Chester Shooting Case

WEST CHESTER, PA — The trial of Vaughn Yanko, charged with the attempted murder of Ivon Bennett, a Valley Forge University basketball player, is shedding light on the conflicting events of a January 2023 night that ended in a shooting outside the Chester County Courthouse. Testimony from former student Adonnis McGill added confusion, as he alternated between statements that he witnessed Bennett fighting Yanko and not recalling any confrontation. The defense contends that Yanko acted in self-defense, while the prosecution suggests he intentionally provoked the incident. The jury will have to decide if the shooting was an unfortunate escalation or a planned act of violence. Bennett, who has struggled to recover from the incident, could not offer much clarity, as his memory of the night remains fragmented.
