Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Shares Path to Success with Downingtown East
DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Students at Downingtown East had a unique opportunity to hear from Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. The Pennsylvania native spoke candidly about his journey from a small town to the NFL, emphasizing that resilience and hard work are the keys to turning aspirations into reality. Barkley shared personal anecdotes that highlighted the importance of persistence, even in the face of setbacks, and encouraged students to set ambitious goals.
The event was organized by the DASD's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department, reflecting the district’s commitment to inspiring students beyond academics. After his address, Barkley engaged with students in a Q&A session, providing further motivation and advice on how to stay focused and positive.
Barkley’s visit was a reminder that success is within reach for anyone willing to work diligently and remain resilient, regardless of where they start.
Chemical Odor Prompts Hazmat Response in West Goshen Township
WEST GOSHEN TWP — On Wednesday morning, a strong odor coming from a tile and flooring center on Lincoln Avenue in West Goshen Township prompted a response from hazmat teams and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Emergency crews arrived on scene in protective gear and identified a small amount of stored chemicals as the source of the smell.
The EPA, after assessing the situation, directed the property owner to safely remove the chemicals. Subsequent air quality tests revealed no immediate risk to the public, and by early afternoon, officials declared the area safe.
Coatesville Welcomes Long-Awaited C-Town Supermarket
COATESVILLE, PA — The City of Coatesville will mark a significant milestone this Friday with the grand opening of C-Town Supermarket, its first full-service grocery store. The 14,700 square-foot store, located at 245 East Lincoln Highway, will open its doors to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m., offering residents a long-awaited solution to the city's food accessibility challenges.
C-Town Supermarket, the first of its kind in Chester County, is the result of a partnership between business owners Juan Almanzar and Miguel Marquez. The project has been in development since 2020 but faced delays due to the pandemic. Marquez, who has successfully opened two C-Town locations in Lancaster and York, PA, teamed up with Almanzar to bring this long-needed service to Coatesville.
The store will feature a diverse range of products, including fresh meats, dairy, produce, and baked goods, and will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. C-Town will also have a deli for sandwiches, wings, burgers, and fries to go, providing convenient meal options for busy residents.
City officials have welcomed the opening of C-Town as a crucial development for the community, providing residents with healthier food choices and supporting the city's ongoing revitalization efforts. The new store reflects a broader collaborative effort to address Coatesville’s food desert status and offer the community reliable and convenient access to quality groceries.
