Innovators Compete for Cash and Connections at LionCage Pitch Event in Malvern
MALVERN, PA — The LionCage Pitch Competition, scheduled for November 8, 2024, at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern, PA, will provide a unique platform for startups and entrepreneurs from southeastern Pennsylvania to present their ideas to a broad audience of industry leaders, investors, and supporters. Organized by Invent Penn State LaunchBoxes at Brandywine and Great Valley in collaboration with the Ideas x Innovation Network (i2n) and the Chester County Economic Development Council, the competition will include four categories: Early Stage Startup, Experienced Startup, Student Startup, and Social Impact Initiative.
Each category offers a $5,000 prize, and one exceptional participant will receive an additional $10,000 prize for “Best of Show.” The Social Impact Initiative, supported by the United Way of Chester County, will specifically focus on businesses addressing societal challenges. Citadel Credit Union Honors Teachers With The Heart of Learning Awards
EXTON, PA — Citadel Credit Union has opened nominations for its 2024-2025 Citadel Heart of Learning Awards, recognizing teachers from across the Greater Philadelphia region for their exceptional contributions to education. The awards, established in partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit in 2001, initially focused on Chester County but now include teachers from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Lancaster, and Philadelphia counties.
Each year, teachers are nominated by students, parents, and colleagues, with the most outstanding educators selected as winners. Grand prize recipients are awarded $10,000, shared between the teacher and their school, while other county-level winners receive $1,000. Since the program's launch, more than 400 teachers have been honored, and over $500,000 in grants have been distributed to support classrooms.
Nominations for this year’s awards can be made online or via social media, with the deadline expected to be announced later this fall.
Transportation Forum Set for September 24: Learn About Regional Transit Developments
EXTON, PA — The Chester County Planning Commission’s 2024 Transportation Forum will take place on Tuesday, September 24, offering updates on regional transportation issues from SEPTA and the county's Multimodal Transportation Planning Division. Lloyd Dog Park to Close Temporarily for Maintenance on September 23
CALN TWP — On Monday, September 23, Lloyd Dog Park in Caln Township will be closed to the public from 8 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. Maintenance crews are scheduled to conduct work near the gas pipeline running through the park, limiting access for most of the day. While the closure is planned for these hours, the timing could shift depending on weather conditions.
Uwchlan Township Begins Restoration of Historic John Cadwalader House Fireplace
UWCHLAN TWP — Uwchlan Township’s Historical Commission has undertaken a new restoration project at the historic John Cadwalader house, where efforts are being made to restore the original fireplace. Township officials have shared recent progress, giving residents a glimpse into the meticulous work being done to maintain the character of this important local landmark.
