Chester County Restaurant and Food Truck Festival Returns to West Chester This Sunday

WEST CHESTER, PA — The 43rd annual Chester County Restaurant and Food Truck Festival will fill downtown West Chester with food, crafts, and music on Sunday, September 15th, from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Stretching across Gay and High Streets, the festival will showcase over 50 food trucks and restaurants, offering a range of gourmet, ethnic, and unique dishes. Visitors can also explore more than 80 artisan and information booths. For those looking to relax, the Beer and Wine Garden on North Church Street will provide beverages for a $4 entry fee. Music from three different stages will create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day. Special event parking is available, with more details on the Downtown West Chester website.

Caln Township Road Project Moves to Next Phase with Paving Scheduled

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — Caln Township will see the continuation of roadwork on Lloyd Avenue as Phase II of the project gets underway. Aqua’s contractor has planned milling operations for this week, pending good weather, with paving set for next Monday through Wednesday. The construction will result in lane restrictions, with flaggers directing traffic. Residents and those commuting through the area should anticipate possible delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid the work zones. The project is part of an effort to improve local infrastructure and enhance driving conditions.

Historic Chadds Ford Days to Feature Revolutionary War Reenactments This Weekend

CHADDS FORD, PA — The Chadds Ford Historical Society will host Historic Chadds Ford Days on September 14th and 15th, featuring reenactments of the Battle of Chadds Ford, a crucial encounter during the American Revolution. The event includes daily skirmishes, firing demonstrations, and opportunities to engage with reenactors and historical interpreters. Young attendees can join the "School of the Soldier" program, where they will learn drills with wooden muskets. Live music, food, and beverages will add to the festive atmosphere. The event takes place at the Barn Visitors Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 7 to 17, and free for children under 6 and CFHS members. Pets are welcome, but owners should be cautious of the loud noises during the skirmishes and firing demonstrations. Designated parking is available nearby.

Pennsylvania to Honor First Responders on September 27 with Statewide Observance

HARRISBURG, PA — First Responders Day will be celebrated across Pennsylvania on September 27, following a 2021 law signed by Governor Tom Wolf that officially designated the day to honor the state's first responders. The initiative was spearheaded by State Representative David Maloney and Douglassville chaplain Mark Malizzi, who wanted to ensure that the service and sacrifices of police officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel are recognized. The law encourages schools and communities to host events and activities to thank first responders. To raise awareness, Thunder Outreach Ministries, along with other organizations, have sponsored billboards along major highways, reminding Pennsylvanians to express their gratitude not only on this day but throughout the year.

Upper Uwchlan Hosts Lecture on Native American History and the Minquas Trail

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — The Upper Uwchlan Township Historical Commission invites the community to a free lecture on September 25th that explores the history of Native American tribes in Southeast Pennsylvania, particularly the Leni-Lenape, and the significance of the Minquas Trail. The Leni-Lenape, known for their peaceful nature and agricultural lifestyle, were the region's earliest inhabitants and developed trade relationships with early European settlers, such as the Swedes, Welsh, Germans, and English. These interactions led to the transformation of native trails, like the Minquas Trail, into major trade routes that played a crucial role in the development of the region. Norman Glass, a historian and restoration contractor, will present his research on the subject and showcase Native American artifacts. The event is free but requires advance registration due to limited seating.
