Police Release Videos of Suspect in West Chester Car Theft Spree

WEST CHESTER, PA — A series of vehicle thefts in West Chester has raised concerns among residents and the university community as the school year begins. Thefts have mostly occurred in the southeastern part of the borough, with one incident on South Walnut Street. Police have released surveillance footage of a suspect prowling local neighborhoods and are advising residents to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.

Chester County Leaders Discuss Urgent Housing Challenges at Annual Summit


WEST CHESTER, PA — At the third annual Affordable Housing Summit in Chester County, held in West Chester, local leaders, non-profit organizations, and residents came together to discuss the growing problem of housing insecurity. The event highlighted the stark gap between fair market rents and available support, difficulties faced by low-income and ALICE families, and the need for dignified treatment of those in need. Personal stories from residents brought attention to the struggles of various groups, including seniors, veterans, and larger families, in finding affordable housing. The summit also included legislative proposals focused on securing more funding for affordable housing, enforcing fair housing practices, and revising zoning laws to incentivize municipalities to provide more affordable options.

Upper Uwchlan Township Receives Grant for Green Space Enhancement


UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — Upper Uwchlan Township has been awarded a $6,000 grant by the PECO Green Region open space program, a boost to its efforts to enhance the community's green spaces. The grant will fund a Shade Tree planting project, which focuses on increasing greenery and creating shaded areas in parks and public properties throughout the township. Accepted by Neil Phillips, Chair of the Environmental Advisory Council, and Assistant Manager Lindsay Yeager, the grant highlights a continued partnership with PECO and Natural Lands, who have supported such initiatives for over 20 years.

United Way Receives Major Grant to Advance Social Innovation Programs

EXTON, PA — United Way of Chester County has been awarded a $35,000 grant from the “Pay It Forward Fund in Memory of Ronn Fletcher” by the Chester County Community Foundation to support its Social Innovation programs. This grant will enable United Way to expand its efforts in developing new approaches to community challenges, using innovative ideas and technology. The “Pay It Forward Fund,” established to honor Ronn Fletcher's commitment to social progress, focuses on empowering organizations that bring positive change to Chester County. United Way’s initiatives provide nonprofits with workshops and expert guidance to navigate social issues, aligning with Fletcher's vision of fostering meaningful and sustainable community impact.

Chester County Appoints New Communications Coordinator to to AgConnect Initiative

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Commissioners have named Melissa Harrop as the AgConnect Communications Coordinator, a newly created role that underscores the county's commitment to its agricultural sector. As part of a renewed partnership between the Chester County Government and the Chester County Economic Development Council, Harrop will lead efforts to promote the importance of farming, provide resources and training for farmers, and support agricultural workforce development.

Harrop will be instrumental in developing a digital presence for AgConnect, producing the annual Farm Guide, and coordinating significant agricultural awards in the county.
