SOUTH COVENTRY TWP — On the first anniversary of Danelo Cavalcante’s capture, Branch Life Church in South Coventry Township is hosting a community festival to raise money for the Fraternal Order of Police’s scholarship fund. The church, which served as a key staging area during the two-week manhunt that led to Cavalcante’s capture, is partnering with local organizations and leaders to bring the community together in appreciation of law enforcement. The event, scheduled for September 13, will feature food vendors, children's activities, music, and speeches honoring police officers. Parking is at Owen J. Roberts High School, with shuttles to the church. All proceeds will support training for future officers. Firefighters Battle Major House Fire in Upper Oxford Township

UPPER OXFORD TWP — On Wednesday afternoon, a house fire erupted in Upper Oxford Township, Chester County, necessitating a coordinated response from several fire departments in the region. The fire began around 12:30 p.m. in a neighborhood north of Lincoln University, with crews working for three hours to contain the flames. The Christiana Fire Company from Lancaster County was one of the units on the scene, providing a tanker to support water supply efforts. No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Further information regarding the damage and any potential displacement of residents is still pending.
