“Night of Light” in West Chester to Remember 84 Overdose Deaths

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County will mark the 84 lives lost to drug overdoses in 2023 with a “Night of Light” event on August 28 at the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester. The event will feature a display of 84 pinwheels, symbolizing each life lost, and will include resource tables, speakers, and a luminary ceremony. The pinwheel installation serves as a tribute to those who have died from substance use disorders and as a call to action to address the ongoing crisis. The exhibit will be on display until September 3. Organizers emphasize the importance of reducing stigma, raising awareness, and supporting recovery efforts as the community continues to confront the opioid epidemic.

Pepper Palooza Returns to Eagleview with Live Music and Local Flavor

Coatesville Hosts Career & Resource Fair for Workforce Re-Entry

COATESVILLE, PA — On Tuesday, September 10th, PA CareerLink of Chester County will bring together local employers and community organizations for a Re-Entry Career & Resource Fair at The Arches in Coatesville. The event aims to assist individuals re-entering the workforce by connecting them with up to 20 employers and support services. In addition to exploring job opportunities, attendees can take advantage of personalized resume critiques and one-on-one counseling sessions to improve their job search strategies. Vouchers from the Chester County Food Bank will also be available to participants

Ken & Anna Duo Headline the Last Concert of the Summer Series in Upper Uwchaln

UPPER UWCHLAN TWP — The final concert of the Live Music Summer Series will take place on Sunday, September 8th, at Upland Farm Park in Downingtown. The community event will feature live music from the Ken & Anna duo, who are set to perform at 5:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the evening from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., bringing along lawn chairs or blankets to relax while listening to the performance. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site, provided by Epicurean Garage, starting at 4:30 p.m.

United Way of Chester County Names Amanda Blevins Director of Community Impact

EXTON, PA — The United Way of Chester County has appointed Amanda Blevins as the director of community impact initiatives. Blevins, a longtime Chester County resident with extensive experience in nonprofit development and community engagement, will oversee programs that include fund distribution, volunteer coordination, advocacy, and community outreach. Her background includes developing successful fundraising strategies and managing partnerships at several local nonprofits.

In this new role, Blevins will work closely with community organizations and stakeholders to advance initiatives that align with the United Way’s mission of strengthening local communities. Her focus will be on driving meaningful change, enhancing community relations, and supporting programs that meet the needs of Chester County residents.
