Seven Puppies Found Dead at Caln Ingleside Golf Club

CALN TWP — A litter of seven pit bull/terrier mix puppies was discovered dead at Ingleside Golf Club in Caln Township. The bodies, found about 130 yards from the Route 30 Bypass, were discovered by a golf course employee. Caln Police Chief Joe Elias described the incident as "heartbreaking," noting the absence of visible signs of abuse. The police, alongside the Brandywine Valley SPCA, have launched an investigation and are appealing to the community for information, especially those who might have seen or heard something related to the puppies' whereabouts.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA has highlighted its available resources for pet owners, including re-homing consultations, low-cost neutering and spaying, and a free pet food pantry. In response to the tragedy, Ingleside Golf Club will donate $5 from every greens fee collected between July 25 and 28 to the SPCA to support animal abuse prevention efforts. Community members are encouraged to contact Caln Township police or the SPCA with any information.

Chester County Home Catches Fire for Second Time in Months

EASTTOWN TWP — On Tuesday, a historic home in Chester County was engulfed in flames for the second time in recent months. Fire crews responded to the blaze at Leopard and Sugartown roads in Easttown Township around 10:45 a.m., recognizing the address from a previous fire in May. Due to structural issues from the earlier fire, firefighters battled the flames from outside as they spread through all three floors of the home. A woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Paoli Hospital, but no injuries were reported among the first responders.

The earlier fire, reported on May 1, had similarly required a substantial response and was ultimately deemed underdetermined in its cause. The home, built in the early 1900s and sold in 2016 for nearly $900,000, is now under investigation by local authorities and the ATF to uncover the origins of both fires.

Teens Trespass and Vandalize West Chester Railroad Property

WEST CHESTER, PA — On July 20, five teenage males trespassed and vandalized the West Chester Railroad property at the Adams Street Yard. Security footage shows the suspects climbing on locomotives and discharging fire extinguishers. The individuals wore matching uniforms, linking them to a nearby regional lacrosse tournament. The West Chester Borough Police Department is working to identify the suspects and has requested public assistance.

The incident highlights the dangers and illegality of trespassing on railroad property. The West Chester Railroad, a nonprofit organization, expressed concerns about safety and the potential for injury. The boys could face charges of trespassing or criminal mischief, depending on the railroad's decision. Additionally, the organization seeks reimbursement for the damaged fire extinguishers.
