Downingtown Advocate Seeks Solutions to Chronic Flooding
DOWNINGTOWN, PA β Barry Cassidy, a civic advocate in Downingtown, is pushing for solutions to persistent flooding issues, which he believes have been worsened by silt accumulation following the 2018 demolition of an upstream dam. Cassidy has requested thorough environmental testing before the scheduled removal of the Route 30 bridge and emphasized the flooding's severe impact on the community, particularly low- to middle-income residents. Cassidy's efforts include collaboration with PennDOT and local residents to address the problem. The Downingtown Resilience Fund, formed in response to Hurricane Ida's devastation, aims to mitigate flood damage by creating wetlands and executing property buyouts in vulnerable areas. The Fund also seeks to improve flood insurance options and ensure comprehensive floodplain management through community participation and regulatory efforts.

He was picked up by a white SUV and hours later, gunfire was reported on East Diamond Street, where Naylor was found dead. His phone and any money he had were stolen. The Citizens Crime Commission is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Tips can be reported anonymously at 215-546-TIPS.

CALN TWP β This summer, Caln Township's Municipal Park has faced a spike in vandalism, with incidents ranging from fireworks and broken electrical outlets to graffiti and the destruction of a picnic table. In response, township authorities have increased police and staff patrols and decided to install surveillance cameras to identify the culprits. The community is being asked to help by reporting any vandalism they witness to the police. The goal is to ensure that the park remains a safe and pleasant environment for all visitors.
