Chester County Man Convicted on Numerous Charges of Child and Domestic Abuse

CHESTER COUNTY — A Chester County man was convicted on 29 counts of sexual and physical abuse against his former girlfriend and her children, after a jury swiftly concluded their deliberations. The serious nature of the charges, which include child rape and aggravated assault, could result in a substantial prison sentence for the defendant. He is currently awaiting sentencing at Chester County Prison.

YMCA of Greater Brandywine Welcomes New Director at Downingtown Pickleball Center

Mullin, with a 20-year track record at various YMCAs, including his recent role in Maryland, is poised to leverage his expertise in health and exercise science to promote pickleball and community health. The center not only aims to serve as a hub for pickleball enthusiasts but also integrates wellness programs that address mental and spiritual health.

Goodwill Keystone Stores Become E-Waste Drop-Off Points in New Initiative

CHESTER COUNTY — A new free electronic waste recycling initiative by Reworld™ in partnership with Goodwill Keystone Area aims to address the lack of recycling services in 22 central and southeastern Pennsylvania counties. Utilizing 42 Goodwill locations as collection points, the program is designed to make it easy for residents to dispose of electronic waste responsibly. With a goal of collecting half a million pounds of e-waste in its first year, the initiative seeks to significantly cut the amount of harmful waste in landfills

Al Moretti to Paint Historical Mural at Kennett Library, Celebrating Local Legends

KENNETT SQUARE — Kennett Library in Kennett Square has commissioned a new mural to capture the historical essence of the area, featuring Al Moretti as the artist. Moretti, who has deep ties to the region and a background in both music and painting, was selected from a pool of twenty-four artists through a public call. His artistic approach, which integrates musical elements like rhythm and harmony, aims to bring the local historical figures to life in a vibrant and engaging manner. The project reflects a significant community effort, with input gathered to ensure the mural resonates with residents. Once completed, the mural is set to be a cultural highlight for Kennett Square, enhancing the library’s role as a center for learning and community engagement.

Live Music, Food, and Fun at Highland Orchards’ Annual Harvest Festival

Highland Orchards will celebrate the harvest season with a festival highlighting local culture and commerce. The event will span two days, featuring diverse musical performances by TinnAngel and the Borderline Trio, alongside a variety of food and drink options from regional vendors and wineries. Activities will include axe throwing and games, while La Mancha Animal Rescue will provide opportunities for animal adoption.

COATESVILLE — The upcoming Country & Folk Music Festival at Brothers on the Brandywine, kicking off on May 11th, marks the start of a monthly concert series at the Coatesville venue. The event will feature three local bands: The Keystone Breakers, The Youngers, and The Miners, each bringing their unique sounds to the stage from noon to evening.
